The conversation with Robin hadn't been easy, granted not only current events but also everything they had been through together. For months, all the months that Regina had been in a relationship with Robin, she was certain that her happy ending was by his side... this of course until things started to change. Nobody, not even herself, even considered the possibility of Regina falling in love by someone else asides the Thief... Yet, it happened.
Emma Swan.
This was the name of the person Regina began to fall for recently and as said before, who could even imagine such thing could happen? The beginning of their relationship had been rocky, in constant dispute for their son, Henry. But eventually and slowly both females began to place both their differences aside for the sake of the young boy.
As time passed by, however, they connected, they bonded, they shared moments. Against all odds, they began seeing hope and light in each other, using each other to always bring the best of one another. Regina lost track of when it all started, of when this bonding began to be something else. Before she knew it, she felt nervous around Emma, even though she would always put on her straight face, her almost impossible attitude. So much denial ran through Madame Mayor, yet she refused to succumb to it. Why would she? Such feelings didn't make sense. She had Robin, she was happy.
Yet, those cursed feelings continued to invade her.
All of it invaded her to a point in which eventually she couldn't keep it to herself any longer. Up until today she remembered perfectly well the moment she told Emma how she felt about her. Time stopped. It was horrible. Mostly because she had no idea how Emma would react to such madness. But to her surprise, the Savior had been feeling the same thing and just like that, the strongest form of magic happened.
Love happened.
Guilt also happened, however. Guilt regarding Robin. Guilt regarding all the suffering he was going through right now. The last thing Regina wished for was Robin's suffering. She had been happy with him and during the whole time she had been with him she truly believed he was her one true love, that the two of them were destined to be together. Never could she imagine that things wouldn't work like that. Nothing like that, actually. To be honest as during the time she was with him, she couldn't see herself with anyone else and this was why her feelings for Emma caught her completely off guard. Now, the relationship she used to share with the Thief seemed like something that happened forever ago. Obviously that the two of them began to grow a distance between them due what happened but what Regina feared the most were the consequences of that distance when it came to Robin. The Thief had a good heart but even a good heart could be corrupted sometimes, specially after being broken with no warning whatsoever. Why would Robin be any different? He was just a man, only human… And Regina had seen the look he carried in his eyes. She had seen that look before. Hell she even carried that same look with her at some point so she was well aware of what was truly behind that. What if Robin gave in to that? Would she be able to live with herself, knowing that she had been the one responsible for it?
She saw herself at her Mansion right after her last conversation with him. After parking her Mercedes, she walked up the stairs and opened the front door, stepping inside. With a huff, she entered the living room and tossed her purse towards the couch, instantly heading to the liquor cabinet as she rubbed her temples. Alcohol. Something strong. Anything that could actually make her brain function into some other direction which was not self destruction, self pity, guilt... or whatever was crossing her mind right now. Glass twirling around in her hand, her choice ended up being some old scotch. She didn't even like scotch, to be honest. At the time it just seemed like a good choice.
Roaming the living room with her glass in hand, her thoughts traveled and eventually she stopped to see herself in the mirror. What was this exactly? What was she exactly staring at? A reflection, yes.... but from who? Regina? The Evil Queen? Something in between? Fingers wrapping firmly around the glass she didn't even realize she had broken it until she looked at her hand and saw her own blood in it. Frowning, it wasn't even hurting. Her free hand moved up, aiming to wave above the injured one and heal it but in the last second, she decided not to. She needed this, to punish herself and feel that she was hurt even though she wasn't. She was happy with Emma yet her guilt wasn't allowing her to live it to the fullest. She wanted to feel something negative now so she could at least feel that a part of her was with Robin when it came to his own misery... almost as if she didn't want him to feel alone. "Do I really deserve this?" She asked herself in a whisper, her head shaking as doubts assaulted her mind.
"You do. More then anyone."
His sweet and low whisper echoed through the room and Regina sighed, eyes closing until eventually she turned around, her eyes falling on her son. "Henry I..." He walked up to her, placing a hand on her chest. She didn't have to say anything as he knew what was going through her mind. She was scared that her fate would always be like this. That she would always be ripped away from her happy ending because of the things she did in the past as the Evil Queen. She thought she wasn't worth it because it she considered that the only thing she did good was cause suffering to others. But not Henry. Not the heart of the Truest Believer. He knew her better then that. Looking up to his mother, he offered her a smile filled with hope.
"Everything is going to be ok."
